Woods-Corwin's Hat Trick Gives Vudoo Comeback Win
Both teams came into this game after having narrowly lost their season-opener. Kyle Argent put the Pterodactyls ahead early in the game, but rookie Mark Schwanda tied the score on a late powerplay.
Davy “Gravy” Hutchins’ complete apathy towards defense finally paid off as he found himself on a breakaway after redirected breakout pass from Scott Brady, and he scored to give the Pterodactyls a 2-1 lead. However, James Woods-Corwin tied the game four minutes later. Two and a half minutes later however, Argent scored again to retake a slim lead. They remained up 3-2 going into the third.
The Pterodactyls held onto the lead for the first half of the third period, but with 6:20 to go, Woods-Corwin struck again to tie the game at three. Just over a minute later, he would complete a hat trick to give the Vudoo their first lead of the game with juts 5:10 remaining. The Pterodactyls eventually called a timeout and pulled Jeff Leidner for an extra skater, but this only allowed Schwanda to score on the empty net from his own zone as the Vudoo clinched a 5-3 win.
