The Sewer Rats would have a quick lead thanks to the shiftiness of Darren Kamikura, who freed himself up and would fire in on a wrister. The next Rodents goal would by Mike Schumer from Evgeny Nikitin, then Schumer returned the favor when he fed the big fella on an odd-man rush, on which Nikitin went high for 3-0. The Vudoos would narrow their deficit when Rob Coffman would wrist on target from the point, forcing fill-in netminder Joe Ursino into a pad save, but Dom Micclizzi was there to whack in the rebound, and it was now 3-1. The Sewer Rats were not deterred, and would see an awakening by Andy ?The Ox? Viox, who would record a natural hat trick: First, Viox would one-time from Andy Szilvasi, then The Ox would flip the puck in from the doorstep after Kamikura stole the puck from the Vudoos for a 2-on-0, and finally to complete his hat trick, The Ox would go on a coast-to-coast rush, weaving in and out of the Vudoos before deking in.
