Vudoos Win Tight One Behind Brake's Hat Trick

The Sewer Rats struck first when Darren Kamikura was on the doorstep to bang in a rebound after Eric Vogt was denied, which would be the only goal of the first period, as Mat Laskowski backboned his boys to a 1-0 lead with his play in the crease.

Laskowski still wouldn't surrender anything to the Vudoos, but the Sewer Rats couldn't add to their lead, in a scoreless second period as the raucous crowd watched.

The third period would see the Vudoos finally crack Laskowski, when Patrick Brake turned and fired from Casey "The Cavalier" Cavasin, who hit his buddy in traffic, to equalize. Overtime would seem on the horizon, but Boris Raizberg was assessed a trip, which would put the Vudoos on a late power play. They would make that man advantage count when Brake was assisted by Fred Hoth, then the Sewer Rats would pull Laskowski for an extra attacker. But it was not to be, because Brake picked off a pass and complete his hat trick into the empty net in what was a 3-1 Vudoos win in which he won the Sponsor TBD Man of the Match Award. Honorable mention to tonight's honors goes to Mat Laskowski, who will get the loss in this one, but is a completely unfair reflection of his play, which nearly earned him a shutout and his team an opportunity to win in overtime.
