Ooff! Win on Banner Raising Opening Night
Sunday, September 20, 2020
Ooff! defeated the Vudoos in last season's championship game, and both would be paired in their season opener for Fall/Winter. The Vudoos had extra motivation after witnessing Ooff!'s 2020 Summer Champion banner lifted to the rafters of ProTec Ponds, and it was sure to be an exciting one.
After a trip to John Rosalie, the Vudoos went short handed, but they would score while down a man due to the snipe of new signing Patrick Brake. Ooff! would retaliate with Austin "The Texan" Ruffino's goal when he went high, then would go ahead through Mike Caporaso. Chris Fagan made it 3-1 Onomatopoeia Crew, then Tommy McNulty got on the scoresheet with a wrister. The Vudoos would pull closer when Brake would knife through the neutral zone and put the puck into the back of the net, but Ooff! would cancel that one out when McNulty was helped by Caporaso and Fagan on a 3-on-2 odd man rush. The Texan then squeezed the life out of the Vudoos when he made it 6-2 from McNulty, which would be his second goal of the contest, followed by McNulty's hat trick goal. Brake would complete his own hat trick with a late consolation goal, but it would not do much other than bring the final scoreline closer, which was 7-3 Ooff!.
