Tom "Godzilla" Godon and Mark Schwanda Destroy Hooligans
Sunday, June 2, 2019
Mark Schwanda, as huge of a piece for Gary Len's Vudoos as anyone else, set the stage by factoring into his team's first four goals, which helped Tom "Godzilla" Godon run all over the Hooligans: First, Schwanda broke through for a breakaway which he put in with ease, although the Hooligans pulled that one back while short handed due to a Daniel Maus slash, on Keith Plescia's breakaway goal from Pete Sztankovitz after the Vudoos were unable to win a board battle. Schwanda was unfazed and picked it right back up with an assist, a saucer pass, to Adam Kelly, who did the rest. Pete Peterson followed this when he snared a puck destined for the top corner with his trapper, and was rewarded with a Godzilla goal from Schwanda; Godzilla parked himself in front of the Hooligans' net, and scored after Schwanda escaped multiple Hooligans to open up a lane. Now 3-1, the Hooligans were itching for the next goal, which they got on Sztankovitz's streak through the Vudoos, but the Vudoos went on a power play because the Hooligans were assessed two minors on the same play, Dave Leong's interference and Joe Allen's hook. Schwanda and PTAHL rookie Jeff Young worked it to each other before John Rosalie buried the puck into the back of the net. Godzilla was assisted by Kelly when he went bar down, Young assisted Rosaile for the second time, then Godzilla's hat trick goal was the icing on the cake, in which the Vudoos won 7-2.
Mark Schwanda (1G, 3A) and Tom "Godzilla" Godon (3G) won the Buffalo Wild Wings Man of the Match Award.
