Biohazards Limp to Shootout Win
Saturday, June 3, 2017
The Biohazards knew that they had a chance at the top seed, but anything except a regulation win would hamper those chances.
Larry "The Canadian Guy" St. Denis took off with two quick goals, the first from Dave Peterson. Nine minutes later, St. Denis scored his third after an Adam Birnbaum and Tom Temple play.
The second period began with a Biohazards penalty when John Lattanzio hooked a member of the Vudoo, and James Woods-Corwin scored on the power play from Will Dimock. Ray "Ziesse's Peanut Butter Cup" Ziesse was called for holding, and Greg "Turn Down for What" Ternlund was helped by St. Denis, to put the Biohazards up 4-1. The second period ended with Adam Birnbaum's interference minor.
Woods-Corwin from Dimock, again on the power play, Turn Down for What from St. Denis, again, followed. St. Denis scored his fourth with an assist from Temple, and it was 6-2. Ziesse got one from George Dimock, and an Adam Birnbaum hook put the Vudoo on the power play on which Gary Len got one from Will Dimock. It was now 6-4, and with 1:19 to play, the Biohazards called timeout. Woods-Corwin scored, and when 19 seconds remained, Will Dimock tied it. The Vudoo called timeout, but this comeback earned the Vudoo at least a point, with it going to a shootout.
The Vudoo shot first, sending Tom Godon. Nick Raite made a great save, and it would be Sean "Babyface" Feeney with a chance to score. Pete Peterson handled Feeney's dekes well, and it went to the next shooter, James Woods-Corwin. Woods-Corwin had a hat trick, and sped down the ice, but Raite's blocker was there. Greg "Turn Down for What" Ternlund deked on Peterson, beat his outstretched arm, and the Biohazard had the lead. Will Dimock had to score, but Raite ended this one with an chest save, and the Biohazards won 7-6; but feel like they dropped a point after wasting a four goal lead in the third.
The Hockey Haus Man of the Match Award was won by Larry St. Denis, who had four goals and two assists. Honorable mention goes to James Woods-Corwin, who had three goals in a loss.
