Woods-Corwin Lifts Vudoo to Win

Thanks to the goaltending of Pete Peterson and Jeff Leidner, the first period saw no goals.

Early in the second period, James Woods-Corwin scored on Leidner, putting the Vudoo ahead. Ilya Labutin went to the box for checking, but Leidner and his Pterodactyls defense were able to kill it. After even strength action returned, the Vudoo increased their lead when Pat Mack finished. After this, Gary Len hooked a Pterodactyl.

After killing the penalty, the Pterodactyls went on the kill when Big Tony Gesumaria hooked one of his opponents. Shortly after the penalty ended, Corey Wendling scored from Brian MacLean and Mack to put the Vudoo ahead, 3-0. The Pterodactyls were not done, and cut into the lead when Jacky Morin got one on a feed from Zach "Zacharoni and Cheese" Zakolski. 1:02 after Morin's goal, League Commissioner and my boss Rob Cacioppo, jetted down the right wing into the Vudoo zone. He found Gesumaria with a pass, who placed a low shot on target. Peterson made the kick save, but Cacioppo was there to pick up the remains of Gesumaria's smart shot. The Pterodactyls were now down 3-2 with 7:33 on the clock, but Woods-Corwin scored from Jim Schwanda to put the Vudoo back up two. With 1:28 to go, Morin got one through Chris Kreuter, and the Pterodactyls were down 4-3. 20 seconds later, the Pterodactyls pulled Leidner, and with 21 seconds left, Corey Wendling checked a Pterodactyl. With a 6-on-4, the Pterodactyls were unable to score, and the Vudoo won 4-3.

James Woods-Corwin (2G, including the game winner) and Pat Mack (1G, 1A) split the Hockey Haus Man of the Match Award.
