Vudoo Win Second Straight

Both teams came in looking for their second straight win, and the Vudoo got off to a great start when, 1:19 into the game, Corey Wendling scored on a George Dimock assist. James Woods-Corwin, who led the team in scoring last season, put the Vudoo further ahead when he notched his third of the season. Late in the period, Gary Len put the Vudoo down a man when he hooked a Sewer Rat, but his goalie, Pete Peterson, and the Vudoo defense, did not give one up.

The second period began with a George Dimock tripping penalty, but the Sewer Rats came up empty again. When play returned to even strength, the Vudoo got their third, when Dimock found Ray "Ziesse's Peanut Butter Cup" Ziesse. Less than two minutes later, the Sewer Rats got on the board, courtesy of Mike Schumer, with help from Andrew Viox. Woods-Corwin scored another, and the Vudoo took a 4-2 lead into the third period.

Peterson did a great job keeping the Sewer Rats from getting closer, while Laskowski kept his team in the game, preventing the Vudoo from going up by four. A little more than midway through the period, Dave Fordham of the Sewer Rats was called for a high sticking minor, putting his team down a man. The Sewer Rats killed the penalty, but two minutes peeled off the clock. 2:01 after Fordham's penalty expired, Eric Rogus scored from Rudy Vitti, putting the Sewer Rats down 4-2, with 3:06 to go. The momentum was now in the Sewer Rats' favor, but they could not get another past Peterson, and the Vudoo won 4-2.

Pete Peterson, who surrendered two goals, and James Woods-Corwin (2G) shared the Hockey Haus Man of the Match Award.
