5-3 Win Puts Pterodactyls in First Place

With a regulation win, the Pterodactyls would be five points ahead of the Rink Rats and six points ahead of Ooff!, who have one and two games in hand respectively. Three points for the Vudoo would see them close the gap to five points on the fifth place Sewer Rats.

The Vudoos took an early lead when Corey Wendling scored before two minutes were played, but this lead only lasted for five minutes because League Commissioner and Job Creator, Robert Cacioppo, scored with help from Keith Fimiani. Fimiani scored one of his own with a little over five minutes remaining in the first when Chris Kreuter assisted him.

The Pterodactyls began the second up 2-1, and found themselves on the power play when Ray "Ziesse's Peanut Butter Cup" Ziesse was called for tripping. Ooff! prevented the Pterodactyls from scoring, and eventually found themselves with a man advantage when Cacioppo, The Commish, was called for a tripping minor. The Pterodactyls held up their end of the penalty kill bargain, and the game stayed at 2-1, until Fimiani scored his second of the game, this time from Tony Gesumaria. The Pterodactyls took this 3-1 lead into the third period.

The third was even until Ilya Labutin, the Pterodactyls' leading scorer, finished from Jacky Morin, to make it 4-1. The Vudoo called timeout, and Ziesse's Peanut Butter Cup scored from Tom Godon to make it 4-2, then Godon scored one of his own on assists from Wendling and James Woods-Corwin. Now down 4-3, with 58 seconds remaining, the Vudoo pulled their goalie, but Fimiani finished his hat-trick, to give the Pterodactyls a 5-3 win.
