Labutin Nets Four as Pterodactyls Improve to 2-1
Wednesday, September 21, 2016
Both the Pterodactyls and Vudoo came into this game looking to bounce back after being defeated by Ooff!, but the Vudoo would be without key scorer James Woods-Corwin. Four minutes into the game, Ilya Labutin put the Pterodactyls ahead, and they took complete control of this game before the first period ended. Chris Kreuter and Tony Gesumaria made it 3-0 before the period was halfway over, and then Labutin scored twice more to complete a hat trick. Ray Ziesse put the Vudoo on the board, but Geof Grek scored before the end of the first to send the Pterodactyls into the second period with a 6-1 lead.
Three and a half minutes into the second period, Sean Caldwell scored. The Pterodactyls spent the rest of the period focusing on defense as they no longer needed any more goals. They got through the period keeping the Vudoo from adding to their lone goal. The theme continued in the third period, with Labutin notching his fourth goal of the game early on, and then Don Vallario added a goal two minutes later. The Pterodactyls went another period without giving up a goal, and Gesumaria added his second of the evening to put the final score at 10-1. The Pterodactyls return to action on Sunday when they meet their former captain Davy "Gravy" Hutchins, now playing for the Archers. The Vudoo are off until next Wednesday when they take on the Rink Rats.
