Rats Victorious in Battle of Unbeatens

This heavily-anticipated game featured Division IV's two undefeated teams squaring off. The Rats got off to a good start with a pair of goals by Hugo "Stiglitz" Beja, but Ray Ziesse cut the lead in half before the period ended.

Antonio Figueroa scored in the second to tie the game, but Trevor Eldridge put the Rats back on top. Early in the third, Will Dimock tied the game, but Beja finished off a hat trick a minute later to put the Rats in the lead once again. However, Mark Schwanda scored less than a minute later to tie the game at four. Dimock scored again to give the Vudoo a lead, but once again the Rats had an answer as Eldridge scored again thirty seconds afterwards, tying the game at five. With five minutes to go, George Dimock scored, giving the Vudoo a late lead, but a Will Dimock slashing penalty fifteen seconds later allowed Eldridge to wrap up a hat trick and tie the game, sending this one to a shootout.

Todd DeGeorge opened the shootout with a goal, and Mark Schwanda was rejected as the Rats held the upper hand after round one. Up next was Hugo "Stiglitz," and he was stopped. James Woods-Corwin was rejected as well as the Rats remained up 1-0 after two rounds. Gary Nigro could have clinched it with a goal, but he was denied. Will Dimock would be the Vudoo's third shooter, and he scored to keep his team alive. Eldridge used up all his scoring in regulation as he was the next to be turned away, but George Dimock was unsuccessful as well. Karl Appleby would take the Rats' shot in the fifth round, and was also stopped. Ziesse had a chance to win the game for the Vudoo, but he too was stymied. Finally another goal was scored in round six thanks to Chris Chinchar. Captain Gary Len would be the next man up for the Vudoo, but he was unable to score as this shootout finally came to an end as the Rats skate off with a thrilling 7-6 shootout victory to remain undefeated. They will take on the Puck Pimps next as the Vudoo prepare to take on the Pterodactyls.
