Mark Schwanda and Woods-Corwin Score Hat Tricks in Big Win

Both the Pterodactyls and the Vudoo were looking to move into a tie for first place with a win in this game. The Vudoo got off to a fast start as Ray Ziesse scored a short-handed goal just two minutes in. They added to the lead late in the period with goals from Mark Schwanda and James Woods-Corwin. Geof Grek put the Pterodactyls on the board, but Woods-Corwin scored again to make it 4-1 after one period.

Early on in the second, Tony Gesumaria scored to bring the Pterodactyls back within two, and they would get a powerplay chance just four seconds later when Woods-Corwin took an interference penalty. The Vudoo killed off the penalty, and Schwanda made it a three-goal game again before the period ended.

Two minutes into the third period, Schwanda completed a hat trick to put the Vudoo up 6-2. They refused to let up on offense as Ziesse scored again, and Woods-Corwin finished up a hat trick of his own while Pete Peterson blanked the Pterodactyls in the third en route to a big 8-2 win, putting the Vudoo into a tie for first with the Rats. The Vudoo will take on the Biohazards next, who are fresh off a big win over Ooff!, while the Pterodactyls hope to put forth a better showing against the Rats.
