Peterson Stones Pterodactyls Back to the Ice Age

Pete Peterson was briallant in net keeping the Pterdactyls off the score sheet until the mercy rule set in as the Vudoos won 8-1 Thursday night. Peterson stopped a two on none with both skaters getting a shot off and then later stopped another break away in the second period as the Vudoos ended their slump at four games.
The Vudoo have been on the wrong side of the spread in their last five and their last win came against the Pterodactyls, who they hoped they could turn their luck around against tonight. The Pterodactyls went one for three against the Puck Pimps and their lack of offensive pressure has been an area of concern all season but with some decent defensive efforts and good goal tending they have managed to keep their hopes alive but need to get some life in their goal sticks if they are to make any headway in the standings. The Vudoo inked their first goal on the score sheet early when Kurt Seidel finished in front and got the one goal advantage early. The Pterodactyls settled down and the defense went to work and kept the Vudoo from taking full advantage of their momentum swing for most of the period but were unable to find a response from their offense and with just under three minutes in the period James Woods-Corwin upped the lead to 2-0. The buzzer sounded without the Pterodactyls able to find a response and they went to the locker room to re evaluate their strategy.
The second period mirrored the first with the Vudoo getting on the board early, this time off the stick of Tom Godon and they found themselves up 3-0. At 7:37 Woods-Corwin found his second and put the Vudoo up 4-0. The Pterodactyls again locked the door the rest of the period and again couldn't find the back of the net despite getting more pressure on the Vudoo. The second period ended with the Dactyls looking up at that large zero on the score board and would need to find a way to get the puck in the net if they wanted to mount any sort of comeback.
The Vudoo started the third period strong off a laser from Mark Schwanda putting the Vudoo up comfortably at 5-0 and less then half a minute later Seidel got his second goal of the game to make it 6-0. The Vudoo were buzzing and the Pterodactyls were flailing just to catch up but Seidel scored another to finish his hat trick at 12:08 and the Vudoo were ahead 7-0. Jeff Marine had seen more then enough and motored into the Vudoo end with the puck and slid through the defense to break the shut out at 10:31 but one goal one a one man effort wasn't going to be enough. Ray Ziesse topped off the game with a goal to make it 8-1 and sent the Pterodactyls into oblivion to snap their 5 game losing streak and give them some confidence going into their next game against Shice-T. The Pterodactyls will need more from their forwards if they are going to make any head way in the standings and hope they can get some offense going agains the Archers in their next contest
