Puck Pimps keep Pimp Hand Strong in Shootout Victory

After dominating the Pterodactyls in their last game the Vudoo looked to carry over some of that momentum into this game against the Puck Pimps, who dropped their last game in a close contest to the Rink Rats. Myles Gellate caught a tripping charge three minutes into the period and was serving a two minute sentence in the penalty box as the Vudoo swooped in and Ray Ziesse put his team up by a goal at 10:31. The two teams stymied each other for most of the period and both goalies settled into their profession as the sands of time slipped down the hour glass but a quick stab to a voodoo doll and Puck Pimps goaltender Ted Yarns succumbed to a goal off the stick of James Woods-Corwin with a mere ten seconds left in the period putting the Vudoo in the driver seat with a two goal lead.

The Puck Pimps were unable to make bail for Justin Senerchia as he was taken to the penalty box in the paddy wagon for a tripping minor. The Puck Pimps kept their "block on lock" with a strong penalty kill and soon after Dan Panella split the lead down the middle to make it a 2-1 game. Four minutes later, Chris "The Kazmanian Devil" Kazlauskas got his money and tied the game up at two. Senerchia followed a little more then a minute later to put the Pimps up 3-2. The smell of arcane magics and possibly a little garlic hung heavy in the air as Woods-Corwin brings his team back even with 4:35 to go. The Vudoo's cauldron overflowed on the bench and a spell backfired as Dan Scerra was called for tripping. It was a two-minute penalty but it only took Gellate twenty-six seconds to fire a puck passed Pete Peterson, giving the Puck Pimps the lead once again. Woods-Corwin completed his hat trick a minute later to tie the game going into the final regulation period.

With a Wall Street-esque atmosphere the two clubs traded goals with reckless abandon with Dave Petzinger putting his team up 5-4. Jeff Leary got hauled off for a checking penalty and the magic power play number of the night was twenty six as once again it only took twenty six seconds for Mark Schwanda to make good on a powerplay goal. The Puck Pimps would not go down without a fight as Senerchia collected his second goal of the game to once more put his team in the lead, but Mark Schwanda ain't got no time for that as he brought his team even to end regulation.

The scorekeeper's hand must have been hurting as the teams entered the shootout but through eight rounds neither team could topple the other. Panella dropped the biscuit in the basket in the top of the ninth round with a feeling of great relief with turned cold as he waited to see if Yarns could muster one more big save to end the night. Corey Wendling took to the center circle with the game on his stick but Yarns came up big and made the save of the night rocketing his team to victory. These two teams will face off again on 10/23.
